It may seem odd to talk about “cultivating” problems. Or for that matter, it may seem odd using the terms problem solving and opportunity in the same sentence! And, you may even ask, “What does problem solving have to do with sales?”

The word “problem” often conjures up negative thoughts. It shouldn’t. Customer problems are really opportunities for us to help. And, most customers don’t even know they have problems. So, salespeople have to be very good at facilitating a problem solving process to demonstrate that there are problems or opportunities to operate more efficiently.
